Last Shift Film Review
Dun dun dun? More like dun dun dumb….
Darling
Rarely are viewers presented with such a finely crafted film. Darling approaches important and heavy subjects with quality and grace. Led by the stellar acting of Lauren Ashley Carter, the film cares not for simple shock tactics, conventional constructions, or contemporary audiences’ horrible attention spans. Instead we are treated to a film that does not only appeal to the lowest common denominator.
Ouija: The Origin of Evil
The critics seem to be tripping over themselves to talk about how scary this new Ouija film is for audiences. I’ll tell you friends, I was scared; scared at how totally-nothing-special-in-any-way this film is in reality. If this is the future of horror, I think we should go ahead and pronounce the genre dead and gone.
JeruZalem
The 2015 horror film guaranteed to make you question the future of filmmaking. JeruZalem (with a Z so it is edgy) fails on just about every level possible.
The Phantasm Philms
The Phantasm series spans 5 movies from 1979-2016. This review will cover all films as a collective. So, grab your four-barreled shotgun, your guitar, and grow a ponytail, because this review is hitting the road.
The Purge 3
Yeah, that’s not the real title, but whatever.
The Purge 3 is another one of the series of horror films that have come out in the last ten years. What distinguished the Purge from the other series at that this was a somewhat unique premise. A 12-hour yearly dystopia. Albeit the topic is silly, it is an interesting idea. Further, such an idea begs for analysis on what people are willing to do when nothing is illegal. With no consequences do we all become monsters? If you’re hoping the film will answer these questions, let me stop you right there. The best that these films can do is give the viewer an idea on how they could make a better version.
